Tomáš Petrásek works as a neuroscientist and a leader of a small research team at the National Institute of Mental Health, Klecany, Czech Republic, investigating neurodegenerative disorders and animal communication. He is also keenly interested in astrobiology, which has resulted in two published nonfiction books about astrobiological perspectives of the outer planets and icy moons, numerous public lectures, and a specialized course of astrobiology at the Charles University, Prague. He has also worked for a year at Ďáblice observatory in Prague. Tomáš also occasionally writes science fiction, with one published novel and several short stories, including a contribution to the anthology Life Beyond Us by European Astrobiology Institute.
