Gabby Rizzo is the Vice President and Treasurer of Agnostic Life Finding Association Inc., (ALFA). She is a first year PhD student in the Genetics, Cellular & Molecular Biology program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She is an aspiring astrobiologist exploring the potential for microbial life in the Martian subsurface and understanding primordial Earth ecosystems. She is particularly interested in how the metabolic pathways that subsurface microorganisms might utilize can inform broader questions in bioenergy. Microbial metabolism, often regarded as one of the earliest forms of bioenergy, can guide the search for viable energy solutions in both terrestrial and extraterrestrial contexts. The intersection between life’s origins, energy production, and space exploration motivate her research.
