Joshua Khan is an Astrobiology graduate from the University of London, Birkbeck. His thesis involved assessing biosignature preservation potential and rover traverses for the European Space Agency’s upcoming ExoMars mission. Joshua’s previous work in genetics & genomic technologies has also allowed for a useful passage into related studies of prokaryotes and archaea, for extremophile and origin of life research. Prior to Joshua’s entry into space sciences, he completed a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science. This helped to provide a strong interdisciplinary foundation, which has been ideal for research within a biochemistry context. During Joshua’s time with the European Space Agency, his team proposed an altered-gravity experiment titled ‘The effects of altered-gravity on insulin receptor activity’. This was planned to better comprehend astronaut health during and upon returning from the International Space Station, particularly reports of insulin resistance. Outside of his academic pursuits, Joshua stays motivated through his passions for hiking, traveling, and football (soccer).
